The Train A Child Emotional Regulation Programme

BREATHE is a hands-on, activity-based emotional regulation programme developed by Train A Child Ideas Ltd.

The programme teaches breathing as a practical life skill, helping children and adults understand how to calm the body, steady emotions, and feel safe — through experience, not instruction.

Rather than telling people to “take a deep breath,” BREATHE shows them how breathing works, why it helps, and how to use it in everyday moments.

Breathing is not basic.
It is a learned skill.

What the Programme Covers

Across all sessions, participants learn to:

  • Notice what’s happening in their bodies during stress and calm

  • Experience breathing that feels supportive and safe

  • Practise simple, effective breathing tools

  • Build confidence using breathing in real-life situations

All learning is demonstration-led, age-appropriate, and emotionally safe.

Who the Programme Is For

BREATHE can be delivered for:

  • Children and young people

  • Schools and SEN settings

  • Parents and caregivers

  • Churches and faith communities

  • Community groups and seniors

Sessions are adapted to the needs of each group while keeping the same core structure.

Why BREATHE Works

The programme is grounded in a simple truth:

Calm begins in the body, not the instruction.

By teaching breathing through embodied experience, participants don’t just learn what to do — they learn how calm feels, and how to return to it.
