Bloom Girls Circle (Ages 8–11)

A supportive 4-week wellbeing circle helping girls ages 11–14 understand their emotions, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging.

Bloom Girls Circle is a small group programme designed to help younger girls understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy friendships. At this stage of childhood, girls are learning more about themselves and how they relate to others. Friendships become important, emotions can sometimes feel confusing, and many girls benefit from guidance as they learn how to navigate everyday challenges.
Bloom Girls Circle provides a supportive and encouraging space where girls can explore their feelings, develop emotional awareness, and learn simple tools that help them respond to big emotions with confidence. Through guided conversations, reflective activities, and practical wellbeing tools, girls begin building emotional habits that support their wellbeing as they grow.
This programme is grounded in evidence-informed approaches to emotional development, including emotional literacy, self-regulation, and confidence-building.

Age group: Girls ages 8–11
Programme length: 4 weeks
Session length: 60 minutes
Format: Small group circle

Group sizes are intentionally kept small to create a supportive, engaging, and welcoming environment.

Each week gently builds on the last, supporting girls to develop emotional awareness, confidence, and practical skills they can use in everyday life.

Week 1 – Understanding My Feelings

Girls begin learning that emotions are important signals that help us understand what is happening inside us.

They explore:

• recognising different emotions
• understanding that all feelings are valid
• learning language to describe emotions

Girls practise identifying emotions and reflecting on situations that might bring those feelings.

Week 2 – Friendships and Kindness
Friendships are a big part of life at this age.

This session explores:

• what makes a healthy friendship
• kindness and empathy
• how to respond when friendships feel difficult

Girls reflect on how they want to treat others and how they want to be treated in friendships.

Week 3 – Confidence and My Strengths

Girls begin recognising their own strengths and the qualities that make them unique.

They explore:

• self-belief and positive inner language
• recognising their abilities and strengths
• building confidence in their voice and choices

This session helps girls develop a stronger sense of self.

Week 4 – Calming My Big Feelings

The final session focuses on emotional regulation.

Girls learn simple tools they can use when emotions feel overwhelming, including:

• calming breathing techniques
• grounding exercises
• pausing before reacting

Girls also create a simple personal plan for managing big feelings.

By the end of the Bloom Girls Circle programme, girls leave with:

• a clearer understanding of their emotions and what those feelings may be communicating

• simple calming and grounding tools they can use when emotions feel overwhelming

• language to describe how they are feeling and express themselves more confidently

• greater confidence in navigating friendships and everyday challenges

• a growing sense of emotional awareness and self-understanding

Parents and caregivers also gain insight into ways they can gently reinforce these emotional tools and conversations at home.

Bloom Girls Circle may benefit girls who:

• are learning to understand and express their emotions

• sometimes feel overwhelmed by big feelings

• are navigating friendships and social dynamics

• would benefit from building confidence and emotional awareness

• would enjoy learning emotional wellbeing tools in a supportive small group setting

The programme is supportive and preventative, helping girls develop healthy emotional habits early.

Bloom Girls Circle supports children in building emotional awareness, confidence, and healthy relationship skills through guided, age-appropriate sessions.

It is not a counselling or therapy service, but a structured wellbeing programme designed to equip children with practical tools they can use in everyday life.

Parents and caregivers are gently supported with simple ways to continue these conversations at home.

If you would like your child to feel more confident, understand her emotions, and navigate friendships with greater ease, this circle offers a gentle and supportive place to begin.
